Our Nursery provides loving care for babies 6 weeks to 2 years.
We provide care for eight babies in our nursery. We participate in the Child and Adult Food Care Program, This means we provide Member's Mark Formula with Lipids and single ingredient baby foods when children our ready to start on solid foods. Infants are fed when hungry and bottles are held by our staff, we do not prop bottles. Children are encouraged to feed themselves and we promote the use of a regular cup by the age of two.
In the nursery we watch our children develop from very young infants that spend their days sleeping to very active toddlers. Children go through different stages of play as they grow and develop. very young infants only have the ability to attend to one object at a time. Once an object is out of their sight, it is quickly forgotten. Infants play by themselves because they are so busy discovering their new world. Every new object or situation that is introduced is a new learning experience for the newborn. This very first stage of play is called "Solitary Play" or independent play. This is a very self centered time for the developing infant. They are fully engaged in gathering information and storing it for further use. This stage of play lasts until some where around nine months. In our nursery we have a lot of toys, books and music to continuously keep our infants busy discovering new things. We rotate and replace the items in the nursery to keep things new and exciting for the children because we understand that this is a crucial stage in a child's development. The second stage of play begins to ripen in slightly older children usually by the time a child is two years of age. This is when the children from our nursery transfer to our Nemo Room.
