Jellybean Room
3 and 4 year olds
The Jellybean Room is for our potty trained
children older than two years old.

The children in this room learn a lot by
interaction with each other.  When they
were younger they played individually in
"solitary play."  When they were in the
Nemo Room they learned to play and work
side by side using "parallel play."  Now they
are learning a whole new way to interact
with the other children in the class:
Associative Play.

In this stage of their development, three and
four year old children begin playing together
but it is a loosely organized fashion. The
more mature child soon emerges as the
leader or organizer in this stage of play.
They see themselves as capable and able to
tell others what to do.  As you can imagine
this can cause a lot of commotion but it is
a part of the natural process of learning and
growing up.  We spend a lot of time
making sure all of the children in the
Jellybean Class learn to play and interaction
with one another in a positive manner.
Along the way we implement our thematic
units so that while they are growing socially
and emotionally they are also growing
academically.
The children picked the Jellybean Room because, they
like Jellybeans.  They are all different colors.  They all
have to be together in the bag and classroom.
Jellybeans get along even though they are all different.
Just like our kids!  Pretty cool!
